Sunshine

In the fall, this Ginko tree in the driveway lights up even the gloomiest day. But enjoy it while it's there, as next week all the leaves will have dropped.

Been A While ...

... too long since I last posted. Lot's has happened since. Most notably Thekla had surgery #2 on her elbow and also had some fat removed from her belly, a Doggie Tummy Tuck. Not to improve her figure, but to grow some stem cells which will be injected into the elbow starting tomorrow. The hope is that tissue will be produced that will reduce the problem of bone on bone in the elbow joint which is causing pain and lameness. Other than holding up her paw and limping occasionally, one would never know that she's uncomfortable. The hardest part of all this is trying to keep her calm and inactive after each procedure.
Thekla as a sad petunia in May after surgery #1.
Thekla in July - feeling better.
And this morning, watching me out of the corner of her eye when I interrupt her snoozing on her new bed. Wonder if she knows what's in store for her tomorrow.

Sighing at the moon...

Last Wednesday night the moon was full and beautiful illuminating the cloud (fog?) bank below it. I grabbed my camera and took this shot from my front porch. Then I panned over and took a photo of my neighbor's front porch light, framed in the wisteria hanging above me. The air smelled fresh and clean. (Not always the case thanks to Chevron less than a mile away - but that's another whole story.)

Summer has finally come to the Point

The past two days have been the first really warm and sunny days that we've seen in the Point since June. Like the sun coming out to set, summer is arriving just in time to greet the fall. Better late than never. We're also hoping for a long Indian Summer.
This sun flower is a volunteer. So much bigger and brighter than one that I had planted that bloomed earlier.

This is Jake, my son Chris' dog. I walked out onto the back deck this morning and found him in my wicker lounge chair. Turns out it's a favorite spot of his. Who knew? Everyone but me I guess. Does he look guilty? Not really.
He knows I won't get angry with him. He might as well enjoy it as it seems I don't have much time to sit down these days.

First Zuchinni of the Season

My garden is struggling because of the cold weather we've been having here in the Bay Area this summer, but I am finally getting some squash. Think I'll put these into a tomato sauce and serve with pasta.

More Garden Photos

Did I mention the word "overgrown"...?
Rhubarb in a Pot?
Mixed bouquet, plus...
Jake
my son Chris' dog, and his unicorn. Jake loves stuffed toys, but this one has already been usurped by Thekla, when he wasn't looking. Maybe he had his eyes closed at the time as he does in this photo. What kind of dog is Jake? A big brown one.

The garden is so pretty this year, if a little overgrown, due to all the rain. It just means a little more weeding, but in the meantime we're enjoying the riot of color in our organic haven.
